Heidi was adopted by a very nice family and she now lives with another dog too. The following is her original story:
pMeet Heidi! A sweet, gentle 2 year old female spayed Ausi Shepherd mix. Heidi has had a hard past year with some tough luck - being in a shelter setting for a long time before we transferred her to MCHS. Please remember, it may time for any new pet to adjust and settle into and feel that they are part of a new home - it's hard on them and they may not know what is expected and not know what is happening. So she may have separation anxiety. Especially for a girl like Heidi who has had a difficult early life. It takes time, patience and love for shelter pets to adjust to a new home. Separation Anxiety is a behavior that can be corrected or worked with. There is much information on the topic. Here are a few links: www.aspca.org/pet-care and www.sspca.org/Dogs/SeparationAnxiety www.wagntrain.com-Seperation Anxiety. Video link from Animal Planet on the topic. The shelter staff can also offer you guidance. She would love a home where she has a human companion that is home to bond and become their best buddy.
Heidi is a gentle, lovable dog. She loves walks and that is probably the best way to gain her love and trust. She is a very sweet gal that is a bit timid but affectionate and loving. She likes other dogs so if you have a dog and are interested in Heidi, please bring your dog along with you to meet her so that they can be sure to be friends. Heidi is longing and looking for a loving home who will spend time with her, give her a caring positive environment and plenty of TLC. The staff & volunteers can tell right away that Heidi is a very special and exceptional dog with a loving personality. Heidi has food allergies that will require her to be on a special dog food, one that is gluten free. We have been feeding her a gluten free food found in the local pet store and she is doing great on this food diet. Because of this, she is not allowed to have snacks or people food. She is a bit thin but our caring staff will be monitoring her food so she can add some more weight to her frame. But she is a beautiful girl with the sweetest expression and cute perky ears...one up and one down! This gal is awesome and we think that she will make a wonderful companion. She is a love deserves a second chance at life - come and meet her today.Adoption Fee: $65 - already spayed
Heidi is our Deb's Dog of the Month! The Deb's Dog Program Fund has donated to have a dental cleaning for Heidi, since she is in need of a cleaning. The Deb's Dog of the Month Program is wonderful program that helps MCHS shelter dogs each month.
