Fundraising Activities
The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1975 by concerned local citizens to help unwanted and stray animals in Marquette county. UPAWS does not receive any Federal, State or County funding but relies completely on the generosity of its citizens, members and buisnesses through donations and various fundraising activities.
2012 Pet Photo Calendar
Our 2012 UPAWS Pet Photo calendar is now available at the following locations:
Downtown EyeCare (Washington St., Mqt.)
The Pet Stop (Coles Dr., next to Ben Franklin)
Serendipity Salon (Inside the Masonic Building on Washington St., Mqt.)
The UPAWS shelter (available every day from Noon-4pm and Thursday's Noon - 6:30pm)
The UPAWS booth at the Westwood Mall (beginning Nov. 18th)
The calendars are $12 each, or $10 each with the purchase of 5 or more. What a wonderful gift for your pet loving family & friends!

Lights of Love 2011
From November 18th until December 30th, UPAWS will hold 10th Annual UPAWS ‘Lights of Love’ at the Westwood Mall in Marquette. Our special tree will be displayed throughout the holidays. It is an opportunity to honor the pets in our lives, past and present, while raising funds to help our homeless pets. For a donation of $5 per ornament, your pet’s name will be displayed on our ‘Lights of Love’ tree throughout the holidays. To download an order form click HERE.
Our UPAWS booth is up and running with t-shirts, sweatshirts, totes, jewelry, cat & dog toys, and our new 2012 Pet Photo calendar. We also have a beautiful quilt that we will be offering in a raffle. Stop by, visit with shelter volunteers, and purchase a gift that will not only please your family, but help our shelter pets as well. All proceeds raised through our holiday UPAWS booth go toward shelter operations. We depend on your support, so stop by and see us at the mall!
Tee Up For Tails - 2011
Our annual golf tournament was held Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Marquette Golf Club Heritage Course.

The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter's Sixth Annual “Strut Your Mutt” Charity Walk for Homeless Animals held on Sept 10th at the Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette was a great success!
