Tuke & Rex update

Our handsome 3 year old Rex is feisty (especially late at night), energetic and still has lots of kitten in him. So in July, when "mom" got tired of running around the house at midnight with a string for him to chase we decided he needed a playmate. Guess who!. "Tuke" caught our eye on the MCHS website. His description suggested that he was a little wild child and needed a buddy, and we thought... "Perfect"! We grabbed a carrier and raced off to the Family Video Adopt-a-thon to meet Tuke. It didn't take long to decide and we carted him off screaming, to his new home. The 2 days that followed were filled with hissing, growling and general "this-is-my-space- so-scram" type dialogue. But after the rules were agreed upon and everyone was done smelling each other Tuke and Rex became fast friends. Now they play, tumble, share space, exchange baths and even sleep together sometimes. Our older kitty Sally finally relented and has accepted the new little "brat". She appointed herself "the matriarch" and keeps the two boys in line (sort of). Tuke is adorable, sweet, mischievous and a really really good cuddler. We love him, he makes us laugh and we are so happy to have him in our home forever!

Additional update: When we adopted Rex and Sally in May of 2008, we also adopted Betty. Betty was a beautiful 13 year old who was the sweetest kitty imaginable. Sadly, Betty went to Heaven in June of this year. She had some serious health problems that couldn't be fixed. I still miss her very much but thankful that she had a year of love with us.
