What's Happening at the Shelter?

THANK YOU! You've Help Sam Heal - $2464 Donated!

THANK YOU!! WE DID IT!!!! HOORAY! Sammy will get his surgery because of the generosity and big, kind, loving hearts of our caring community. PLUS we have an update! Good News! Shelter dogs Tipp will get his neck lump operated on AND shelter dog Conrad will get his teeth cleaned so that he doesn't get an infection and Marbles the kitty will get her sore on her head taken care of and her medicine with the extra donations!

The shelter put a plea out to our community for help with donations for Sammy to get his surgery's and our Pink Lady, Hope for Healing Vet Fund to help others like him. The response was outstanding!! Enough donations were given to pay for Sammy whole surgery and a bit extra to help other pets with emergency issues.

As of Thursday, Feb. 11th, we have received in enough donations plus a bit more to go into the "Hope for Healing Fund" to help another pet heal with $2464 raised!!! WOW!

The power of our wonderful community is amazing!! Thank you to all who have donated to help! We are very grateful.

Sam is available for a staff approved adoption basis since there will be specific care needs that he will have and some after care upkeep that will be needed to be provided by the adopter. He's a great young dog, so if you feel you can provide for him, give us a call at 475-6661. Thank you.

ORIGINAL STORY:
The following is a story about Sam, a sweet pup in desperate need of help. We are asking our community to help us save his life. He has been picked to be our February Deb's Dog of the Month. The Deb's Dog Program has made a donation toward his surgery costs. We know it is a lot to ask for but at least we have to try to raise the money to help him get surgery. He deserves a fair shot at life and even if we do not raise enough, we can look Sam in the eyes and tell him that we have at least tried everything to save him.

Sam's Story:

This is Sammy, a sweet, goofy, lovable 11 month old male neutered shepherd mix. He finds himself at the humane society because his former owner couldn't afford to take care of him. He is a very good boy who has been a loyal loving pet. His former owner loved Sam however, you see, Sam has hip displaysia and needs both hips operated on. His former owner couldn't afford the cost so she had to do the best thing she could for Sam and surrender him to the shelter with hopes that he will find a new loving home and the help that he needs.

When the shelter realized the severity and pain that Sammy was in they brought him to our vet for a consult.
Sam has two hips and a knee that need surgery. These are causing him a lot of pain and without the surgery to fix them, he will not be able to walk in a few months. In order for us to find Sam a home, the surgery needs to be taken care of to relieve his pain. Without the surgery, we fear he won't be able to find a home due to the expense. The surgery cost for both hips and his knee will run $1800. We know this is a lot of money but we are hoping that if everyone gives a little, it will go a long way and it will help a lot to make our surgery goal and in turn give Sam a chance to be adopted and live a pain free life.

Sam is a wonderful dog with a sweet, goofy personality. He's good with his potty, likes to go for walks and really likes car rides! He was used to a family, likes other dogs and is fine with cats too! But Sammy LOVES his people pals the best! He gives his big paw to you to hold and gives you a big doggy kiss! Ohhh, he is a delightful boy!
Sam is a great pup. You can see where he wants so badly to play with the other dogs but he can't because he hurts; he wants to have fun too but his poor legs hurt him so much. He gets so sad with a sad long look on his face. Poor baby.
We know that someone out there is willing to adopt this big, lovable boy, but we also need donations to our Pink Lady: Hope for Healing Fund in order to get him better. If you think you could help Sam and other animals like him, please make a donation to our Pink Lady: Hope for Healing Fund TODAY. We can not perform miracles without your help!!!

Call 475-6661 to donate to "Help Sam Heal" and other animals like him with special vet needs!
Any amount you can donate will be gratefully appreciated. You can also donate thru our "Donate" link and click on Emergency Vet Care or General Fund (please email a note that you'd like to help Sam). Thank You!
